Job Description:
Maryland Environmental Service Technical and Environmental Services Group has an opening based at the MES BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport Field Office for an Environmental Specialist Trainee or Environmental Specialist. This position will be responsible for the collection, compilation, and review of data for environmental science, engineering, and/or construction activities at BWI and MTN Airports as well as providing similar support to MES client facilities located throughout the state. Projects may focus on, but not limited to, stormwater structure inspection and maintenance, sanitary system inspection, UST/AST inspection, oil/water separator inspection, and aircraft deicing fluid collection and monitoring.
This position requires the ability to perform confined space entry, use of a respirator, ability to work outside, and the ability to work a flexible schedule when assigned. This is a designated emergency essential facility, and therefore the ability to work nights, weekends, and during adverse weather conditions will be required. This position requires the ability to obtain a Homeland Security Clearance.
Estimated Pay Range:
Environmental Specialist Trainee: $43,909.83 – $60,376.59
Environmental Specialist: $48,301.85 – $66,414.31

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, ecology, or related field from an accredited college or university. The Environmental Specialist position also requires one year of applicable work experience in environmental science, compliance, or engineering. A UST/AST inspector certification is a plus, but not required.
Applicants must be able to obtain a Homeland Security Clearance. Must possess a valid driver’s license with less than 5 points. Applicants must be able to perform confined space entry, including the use of a respirator, and able to lift fifty (50) pounds.
