The Role
You will be a leader on a team of technically savvy professionals on net zero and decarbonization projects as Project Director in our Sustainability and Resilience practice. You will lead sustainability projects across a variety of sectors, offering innovative MEP solutions to clients to decarbonize their new construction designs and existing buildings, as well as campus and portfolio-wide planning. Key responsibilities include technical delivery, management of junior staff, business development, and client relationship management. Requires strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with familiarity in sustainable building strategies, energy systems, and design and construction. This position is based in San Francisco (CA, USA) and offers growth opportunities within a global team focused on decarbonization and sustainability initiatives. Ideal candidates will be passionate about driving sustainability in the built environment, solving complex decarbonization challenges, and developing new business.
Responsibilities
You will lead decarbonization projects to ensure timely, on-budget completion, including overseeing sustainability requirements, facilitating design workshops, and attending key meetings.
Provide technical leadership in HVAC design optimization, energy modeling, and decarbonization analysis, collaborating with architects, engineers, and building owners to support sustainable strategies.
Direct energy modeling efforts, perform site audits, and stay current with building codes and sustainable design practices, ensuring high-quality project documentation and reporting.
Guide and mentor the energy modeling team, promoting collaboration and knowledge sharing, to maintain high standards of work quality.
Strengthen client relationships through effective communication and project management, identify new business opportunities, and network at industry events to drive business growth.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree preferred.
4+ years’ experience in any of the following: mechanical engineering analysis, MEP design, energy engineering and energy analysis, building science, or related fields.
Professional Engineering license and relevant professional certifications such as BEMP (Building Energy Modeling Professional), and CEM (Certified Energy Manager).
Experience with building mechanical and electrical systems and all-electric and zero carbon building system design or optimization, additional experience with distributed energy resources and electric vehicle charging infrastructure preferred.
Energy modeling and hourly energy simulation experience using tools such as EnergyPlus, IES-VE, DOE-2, or similar.
LEED AP, ILFI accreditation preferred.
Proficiency in MS Office, Excel, Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Bluebeam, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Revit, Python.
Compensation
The rate for this position generally is $100,000 - $120,000 annually. This range is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the California Pay Transparency Law. It is based on what a successful California applicant might be paid and assumes that the successful candidate will be in California or perform the position from California. Similar positions located outside of California will not necessarily receive the same compensation. Actual pay rates may vary from the range, as permitted by California Equal Pay Transparency Law. Compensation offers will be based on various factors, including operational needs, individual education, qualifications and experience, work location and comparison to employee already in the role, as well as other considerations permitted by law. A potential new employee’s pay history will not be used in compensation decisions.
