Growth oriented environmental and industrial hygiene consulting firm is seeking an environmental, health & safety professional to join its team as an Environmental Project Engineer. The successful candidate must have a broad range of environmental project experience. The engineer will be responsible for servicing clients and all forms of project management including, directing technical staff and subcontractors, developing proposals, preparing and reviewing reports, and maintaining client correspondence and satisfaction. The position is located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and reports to the Director of Operations. There is a significant growth opportunity for an early career applicant with an entrepreneurial spirit and looking to grow service offerings, lead a team, develop a department and participate in profit sharing.
Qualifications
- 5 - 8 years of environmental health & safety experience conducting and designing Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments, Contamination Assessments and Remedial Action Plans, Spill Pollution and Prevention Plans, and similar studies in the State of Florida. Local experience (South Florida) is required.
- Must be a Professional Engineer in the State of Florida.
- Field work is required.
- A portable business portfolio of existing clients is desired, but not required.
- Drafting/GIS Experience is desired.
Responsibilities
- Site investigations, sample collection, data collection,
- Report preparation,
- Project management from proposal development through invoicing and project closeout,
- Mentor junior professionals in soil, groundwater, and wastewater sampling, data interpretation and development of recommendations, and project management,
- Manage subcontractors, and
- Develop environmental service offerings across AirQuest’s offices.

Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation,
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, physical examination and pre-employment drug test,
- Ability to travel for out-of-town work. In most cases short durations 1-3 days.
- Ability to carry and use a ladder, use basic hand tools and equipment necessary for a given project and must be able to wear required personal protective equipment such as hard hats, hearing protection, safety glasses, respirators, protective footwear, and additional safety equipment such as fall protection harnesses and others as required by a given task,
- Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and stand for extended periods of time,
- Must be able to work in an outdoor environment, and
- Must be able to lift and carry 40lbs
