UES is seeking an experienced environmental scientist to join our team. The position is to be based out of our Houston office. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of experience conducting Phase I environmental site assessments, wetlands assessments, and/or related environmental due diligence activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Conduct Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), including site visits
- Review and analyze environmental reports and studies, environmental data sources, databases
- Prepare reliance letters
- Clearly convey environmental information and regulatory requirements associated with property transactions and due diligence findings
- Interact with clients and regulatory agencies including the TCEQ, USACE, and EPA
- Write and produce scientific and professional reports

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- BS or MS in environmental science, biology, ecology, planning, engineering, or related natural science discipline
- 5-7 years of experience in performing Phase I ESAs
- Experience in performing natural resource assessments, wetlands assessments, threatened and endangered species surveys, and/or other related environmental due diligence activities an asset

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Legal authorization to work in the US
- Valid driver’s license to operate a vehicle in the US and a clean driving record
- Willingness and ability to travel and work in various outdoor site conditions and project locations (30-60% field work, occasional overnight travel)
- Strong verbal communication and technical writing skills
- Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, problem solving, and research skills
- Proven ability to work productively on multiple projects simultaneously under strict deadlines
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to effectively work in a team environment with minimal supervision
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat
- Ability to pass a workplace physical, drug screening, and background check
