Job Summary/Purpose
This position will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of Entergy’s environmental management system, including defining the governance and implementation plan for a new data management system. This position will identify opportunities to manage enterprise programs more effectively, including but not limited to, implementing cross functional process enhancements and developing and/or supporting environmental leadership focus areas. This role will strive for continuous improvement to improve costs, quality, and service both quantitatively and qualitatively. The role will be responsible for analyzing, interpreting, and communicating requirements of environmental laws and regulations, as well as providing support for the development and implementation of effective and cost-efficient compliance strategies to reduce and limit organizational environmental risk and liability.
Job Duties/Responsibilties
- Evaluates, recommends, develops, coordinates, monitors, and or maintains environmental & regulatory policies and procedures that support Entergy's Environmental Management System and Data Management Programs. Coordinates with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with tools and processes. Ensures that the program’s internal controls, processes, standards, policies, and procedures are aligned with and meet EPA and State Regulatory Guidelines
- Provide guidance and support to key internal stakeholders regarding environmental issues. Be thoroughly familiar with site specific environmental permits and plans. This role may support capital project permitting as needed.
- Participate as a team member of the Environmental Management system outage emergency operations and restoration organization for major storm events. Provide management and oversight of emergency environmental permitting for construction efforts.
- Monitor environmental laws and regulations for changes that may impact Entergy work practices and assist in developing regulatory compliance strategies.
- Enables the development and implementation of cross functional environmental management strategies, compliance programs and or projects.
- Communicating issues by presentations and writing and distributing concise, timely and accurate summaries, reviewing routine reports for project management and leadership, and negotiating with state/federal agencies on the Company’s behalf to arrive at a favorable solution.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum education required for the position
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering or other science-related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent work experience.
Minimum experience required of the position
- Analyst Staff: 7+ years experience handling environmental compliance activities
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position
- Applicant must be physically able to conduct field environmental investigations of sites where access may be restricted due to debris accumulations. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to prioritize and manage multiple work tasks simultaneously. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting. Strong attention to details. Strong analytical skills. Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Self starter and requires little or no supervision. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of products. Excellent organizational skills, ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to work effectively on multiple assignments. Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities. Willing and able to perform other unrelated duties as required and learn new processes and technologies. Knowledge of power generation fundamentals a plus.
- Preferred: Strong knowledge of development and implementation of an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System; Knowledge of EHS data management systems such as Cority.
