Environmental Senior Project Manager
Overview
We are an environmental services firm headquartered in the Chicago area, with three additional locations in the Midwest. Founded in 2001 as a civil engineering firm, the company later branched out into environmental services such as stack testing, air permitting, indoor air quality, and related environmental assessments. Our clients include several Fortune 500 insurance companies, international firms, and manufacturing companies.
As a senior manager, you will be responsible for completing projects from the lead stage to the final report. This will include responding to incoming calls, writing proposals, conducting field work, writing reports, and managing project costs. Occasional out-of-town business development events such as conferences and networking will be required.
Typical projects include exposure monitoring, indoor air quality investigations and testing (proactive and complaint-based), biological hazard assessments, moisture and water intrusion investigations, air permitting, and related testing.
Candidate should have experience in providing environmental consulting services to clients in healthcare, commercial real estate, manufacturing, and other markets. Air permitting experience preferred but not required.
Requirements
Candidate must be able to manage a project from start to finish.
The typical process will include:
- Regular communication with prospective and current clients
- Writing detailed proposals
- Coordinating project scope, schedule, and budget
- Managing technical staff, on occasion
- Conducting background research
- Performing field investigation/testing
- Delivering site samples to lab
- Interpreting laboratory data
- Report compilation of findings and recommendations
Qualifications
A BA degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, or a degree in another science area such as chemistry, or biology is required. A CIH certification is not required but will be considered a plus.
The candidate must have experience in the following:
- Indoor air quality investigations and testing (proactive and complaint-based)
- Biological hazard assessments
- Exposure monitoring
- Moisture and water intrusion investigations
- Air permitting (a plus)
- Asbestos and lead-based paint assessments (a plus)
- Ability to develop business from new and existing clients
Additional requirements:
- Experience providing evaluations, advice/consultation, and implementing solutions for industrial hygiene issues
- Experience managing profit and loss for a department.
- Excellent project management skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
