The School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) at Stony Brook University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position (lecturer) in Sustainability Studies. Candidates in the area of geospatial science are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching, and will teach classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as mentor students.
Special Notes: This is a non-tenure track position. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.

School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences: The School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) is the State University of New York's center for marine and atmospheric research, education, and public service. It is also the home of the university’s Sustainability Studies Program.Approximately 800 graduate and undergraduate students currently work and study at SoMAS. Required Qualifications:
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in geospatial science, geography, urban planning, or related field in hand no later than August 1, 2024. Candidate must be able to demonstrate experience and positive outcomes teaching courses in geospatial analysis/GIS.
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in geospatial science. Experience teaching entry level undergraduate and advanced graduate courses in geospatial science. Research experience in social or environmental science using geospatial science methods. Experience in course and curriculum development including in-person, fully online, and hybrid modalities. Experience mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students. Experience in community engagement. Experience in academic program development and administration.
