The Maintenance and Calibration Technician will work under the direction of their Manager in a support role for the manufacturing floor. The Maintenance and Calibration Technician will be responsible for a variety of tasks that includes maintaining, repairing, and optimizing the performance of mechanical products, machinery, equipment, and the facility, as needed. The ability to communicate and work effectively and cooperatively with operators, engineers, and management is critical. The Maintenance and Calibration Technician plays an integral part in achieving Operational Excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong electro-mechanical, fabrication and calibration background. Additionally, the candidate will be detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Follow and ensure strict adherence of safety procedures and checks.
- Inspecting, analyzing, and troubleshooting systems and equipment.
- Perform the more complex and specialized mechanical / electrical maintenance, integration and fabrication work associated with Fuel Cell & Electrolyzer testing equipment.
- Perform NIST traceable calibrations on test and production equipment.
- Perform preventative and on-demand maintenance on test and production equipment.
- Develops special purpose instrumentation and/or shop or laboratory test equipment.
- Maintains records on work performed, analyzes data collected, reports results.
- Maintains good housekeeping, safety practices and supplies.
- Coordinates and exchanges findings with personnel both inside and outside of work group.
- Repairing or replacing faulty equipment.
- Fabricating any components required.
- Optimize performance of facility, equipment, and processes.
- Identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain working area in good working condition and well-organized.
Education and Experience
- Two-year associate degree in mechanical or electrical field or combination of equivalent training and experience or 4+ years of professional experience.
Required Competencies, Skills, and Experience
- Fabrication proficiency and experience using machining tools.
- MIG/TIG welding experience.
- Ability to read drawings and interpret designs.
- Thorough knowledge of sophisticated mechanical and/or electrical concepts.
- Knowledge of engineering math.
- Analytical ability where problems are somewhat complex.
- Strong Initiative.
- Outstanding interpersonal and relationship leadership skills to effectively collaborate with varying levels of the organization as needed.
- Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Previous calibration experience.
- Entry level Microsoft office proficiency (Excel, Word, Visio, Project, PowerPoint).
- Fuel Cell knowledge or experience.
- Organizational skills.
