POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Under general supervision, the Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for making a variety of general repairs to existing Zoo & Aquarium infrastructure and systems, as well as other maintenance duties such as painting and building basic structures for staff, guests and animals.

Responsible for general maintenance on Zoo & Aquarium buildings, animal exhibits and guest areas, including basic repairs, painting and building basic structures.

Assists other maintenance staff with completion of generated work orders related to a variety of mechanical trades, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, HVAC, etc.

Assists maintenance manager in implementing and executing preventive maintenance programs.

Assists with snow removal during winter months.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- EDUCATION & FORMAL TRAINING:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 5 years general maintenance or carpentry experience desired.
- Knowledge of and experience using various power tools and maintenance equipment.
- OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift 75 pounds and have sufficient mobility to ensure a safe work environment.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, climb, bend and stoop.
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays and evening hours, in all weather extremes.
- Must pass a background and drug screening.
