Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Summary: The Maintenance Technician performs preventive maintenance services, inspects, diagnoses, and repairs vehicles and equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Works under limited supervision, follows established maintenance and repair procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Performs repairs and assigned preventive maintenance services successfully.
- Performs inspection, diagnosis, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Utilizes vehicle computer electronic systems to interpret failure modes to initiate or assign repairs.
- Estimates time and material costs on vehicle repairs and requisitions new parts.
- Performs all work within standard repair times (SRTs).
- Effectively performs service calls for emergency breakdowns.
- Conducts safety checks on vehicles.
- Completes required paperwork utilizing a fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts’ usage, and accounting for repair times.
- Assists senior mechanics in the completion of project work.
- Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on the driver’s vehicle condition reports (VCRs).
- Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with Company and OSHA standards, performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures. Wears PPE as required for the position.
- Ability to effectively communicate to members of the leadership team, coworkers, and drivers in a professional and respectful manner.
- Ability to identify and effectively communicate issues to supervisor when assignments or tasks cannot be performed as instructed or planned.
- Maintains a positive attitude and behavior, demonstrates a feeling of pride in work, adheres to work schedule, and strives to achieve all goals.
- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and/or overtime as required.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must successfully complete all applicable pre-employment screening.
- Two years of relevant work experience.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL License.
- Industry experience with waste and recycling vehicles and equipment.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate, understand, and respond to questions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk, bend, reach, pull, or listen. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move 50 lbs. or more using safe lifting techniques. Will be exposed to a physical environment which involves dirt, dust, odors, noise, weather extremes, etc. most of the workday. Normal setting for this job is both indoors and outdoors.
