Job Title: Seasonal Park Ambassador

Position Summary:
Join the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy team for an exciting summer adventure! As a Seasonal Parks Ambassador, you'll be at the heart of our operation, ensuring every park guest enjoys a memorable experience. Your responsibilities may include operating the popular PNC Carousel in Schenley Plaza, serving lite bites and selling gifts at the Schenley Park Visitor Center, setting up and breaking down public programs and events at parks across Pittsburgh, light custodial work, and assisting with various other tasks as needed. As a Seasonal Park Ambassador, you'll help to ensure an exemplary level of guest service by engaging with guests and maintaining a clean and safe environment at a variety of park spaces and facilities.
Please note that most work will take place outdoors in variable weather conditions. Schedules may include early mornings, late evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed. If you're motivated, energetic, friendly, and love interacting with people, this is the perfect opportunity for you!
Responsibilities:
- Interact with the public every day to answer questions and assist park visitors in Schenley Plaza, the Schenley Park Visitor Center, Mellon Square, and other spaces as scheduled.
- Provide exceptional guest services by building rapport with visitors, answering questions, and assisting those in need.
- Serve as a Parks Conservancy point of contact during scheduled special events and programs.
- Setup and breakdown tables, chairs, and various equipment for events, weddings, and public programs.
- Making sure all public spaces are clean, tidy, and guest-ready at all times.
- Perform janitorial services to include trash removal/disposal, sweeping, mopping, hosing, and restroom cleaning/stocking,
- Spot collection of litter, sticks/twigs, and other debris.
- Carousel operations including safety checks, ride admissions, and general inquiries.
- Operation of the café and gift shop concession at the Schenley Park Visitor Center.
- Observe and report unlawful behavior and safety hazards to site supervisor(s).
- Other duties as assigned.

- The physical ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, pull, push, finger, feel, grasp, lift, talk, see, hear and perform repetitive motions. The ability to remain in a sitting or standing position for extended periods of time. The ability to climb a 6’ ladder.
- Operating equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements.
- The incumbent may be required to traverse on rough, uneven terrain, as well as wet and slippery surfaces and to ascend and descend ladders to access work areas.
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. The work may occasionally involve the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
- The ability to perform job duties for extended periods of time in all weather.
The following are required. The Parks Conservancy will assist selected candidates with clearance and certification requirements prior to starting.
- Department of Human Services Child Abuse History Clearance; Pennsylvania State Police Request for Criminal Records Check; Federal Criminal History Record Information (CHRI).
- Required Mandated Reporter Certification.
- Valid driver license or government ID.
