A Senior Process Engineer plays a crucial role in optimizing and overseeing various stages of steel production to ensure efficiency, quality, and safety. Some of the responsibilities are analyzing production process, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance overall performance.
A Senior Process Engineer must collaborate with various departments within the plant, such as metallurgy, maintenance, and operations, to streamline production workflows. Monitor equipment performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement preventive strategies to minimize downtime and maximize production output.
Responsibilities:
- · Track relevant KPI’s to ensure tracking to goal and work continuously to improve
- · Spend necessary time on meltshop to understand when production and reliability targets not being met
- · Work on heat misses and diverts to understand reason for issue and make suggestions to improve
- · Spend time in pulpits supporting and advising the operators in achieving aims
- · Participate in morning meeting to understand issues and explain potential reasons and solutions
- · Support the Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality programs.
- · Ensure policies, procedures and all activities are carried out to support goals and objectives.
- · Understanding IBA would be a plus
Qualifications:
- · Relevant engineering degree or proven experience.
- · Demonstrated safety focus and willingness to proactively apply it in a team environment.
- · Quality and detail oriented with superior problem solving and communication skills.
- · Highly motivated, self-directed, hands-on approach, and willing to put in extra call hours or on-call support.
- · 10 years’ experience in the melting (Scrap – EAF route), refining and casting processes of a steel plant, Long or coil products.
- · Demonstrated experience in root cause and corrective action methodologies.
