Job Description Summary
The Plant ITR Electrical Engineering Manager will lead a global team of Electrical and Controls Engineers to help deliver a wing-to-wing customer solution for Aero extended scope & turn-key projects, from competitive proposal to execution of the solution. This team will execute with safety, quality, speed, on-time delivery, and at cost. In this role, you will be responsible for developing a team of Electrical systems experts, ultimately creating a safe, inspirational, and inclusive workplace that enables the team to achieve its purpose. As the Leader, you will own the project control activity globally and drive consistent functional specifications and common global processes & standard works for projects implementation.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and technical direction for Electrical & Controls Application & Project Engineering team in development of competitive proposal in ITO phase as well as the execution of the projects. This includes technical guidance to sourcing, project management, suppliers, EPCs and subcontractors and external customers.
- Develop, execute, and maintain a measurable technical training plan to increase team’s technical expertise
- Identify improvement opportunities for Quality and Engineering processes and procedures and coordinate their implementation
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to Plant ITR Electrical Engineering team with a focus on personal development and technical expertise growth.
- Serve as key technical consultant on Electrical balance of plant systems areas and provide technical review by working with global teams to develop expert technical solutions for customer opportunities and project specific request.
- Ensure the team develops and monitors project engineering schedule and budget, Tracks and prioritizes resolution of project action items and critical technical issues, and integrates the customer/partner and GE engineering schedules into overall project schedule.
- Support and contribute expertise with reviews customer specifications and communicates contract and project requirements to all design functions utilizing internal documentation systems.
- Leads risk assessment of technical aspects of the proposals & project and the development and application of appropriate risk mitigation measures.
- Develop and maintain standard works/processes and work instruction and ensure execution of necessary project processes including preparing comprehensive proposals, lessons learned, and ensures adherence to all ISO-procedures and work instructions.
- Leads with a Lean mindset. Leverages Lean in the quest to reduce waste and improve customer value. Practice and promotes Lean concepts while enforce quality procedures and participate in their improvement.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of power plant engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations.
- Familiar with Industry recognized electrical codes & Standards as well as working knowledge of Electrical installation practices.
- Strong knowledge & working experience related to power system studies & analysis , Grid codes requirement, plant & equipment protection relaying, Industrial power generation & distribution design & development, equipment & system sizing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
- A Minimum of 10 years of power plant engineering experience, particularly in balance of plant Electrical systems and equipment, Proposal development and execution and fulfilment.
- Must be able/willing to travel, both domestically and internationally
- Ability to understand complex grid connection schemes and impact on the power plant during operation.
Desired Characteristics
- Master’s Degree in Power System engineering.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in electrical engineering, power plant or power industry.
- Minimum 15 years’ experience in Electrical applications and project engineering, Power System, design & development of Electrical Systems& equipment, and power industry.
- Exhibits the GE Leadership Behaviors: acts with humility, leads with transparency, delivers with focus
- Strong Aero Derivative Turbine Technology experience
- Strong interpersonal skills. Able to work with different levels of management, vendors, customers, and cultures.
