JOB SUMMARY: This position is in the Safety, Health, and Environmental Office of Yosemite National Park, CA. Yosemite National Park attracts approximately 4.7 million visitors annually. The park is large, and operations are extremely complex, with 6 operational areas spread over 1,169 square miles. Park staff, approximately 800 NPS employees and 1,300 concession employees, live and work in remote and challenging conditions. MAJOR DUTIES: The incumbent reports to the Safety and Occupational Health Manager. The Safety Program is part of the Office of the Superintendent and reports to the Deputy Superintendent. The Industrial Hygienist is responsible for analysis of workplace hazards, and the formulation, recommendation, and implementation of measures designed to eliminate, or control identified hazards. Serves as the principle advisor and subject matter expert on all industrial hygiene issues in Yosemite National Park (YOSE). Plans and accomplishes various industrial hygiene activities, including the development and evaluation of work plans for industrial hygiene monitoring and health-related assessments conducted at YOSE. Perform Industrial Hygiene consulting services to YOSE employees. Communicate technical Industrial Hygiene related materials, reports, data, and information to all YOSE employees, concessionaires, and contractors. Provides instructions and training to YOSE park staff and partners.
