JOB SUMMARY: This position is a Fish and Wildlife Administrator, GS- 0480-14 working in Lakewood, Colorado, for the R6-Assistant Regional Director-Ecological Services. MAJOR DUTIES: As a Fish and Wildlife Administrator your duties will include but are not limited to the following: Provides leadership and direction to ensure appropriate coordination, strategic planning, budget and performance integration, and accomplishment reporting. Leads the development of policy to drive the periodic strategic planning efforts for these programs or projects. Coordinates activities with other Branches/Division, Regions, field offices, sister bureaus, external agencies, and private partners for the benefit of the program or project to enhance information exchange and provide technical assistance. Maintains diversified Service intra/inter departmental contacts, to keep abreast of and utilize efficient techniques and methods to carry out the functional aspects of the area of responsibility. Leads or participates in as a full deputy, the development, formulation, and allocation of budgets for the assigned program(s) or project. Works closely with the Service's budget offices and the senior management during budget formulation activities for the assigned program or project areas. Serves as a subject matter expert when developing budget justifications and responding to Congressional requests for information. Through subordinate staff, assures within the assigned programs the proper use and tracking of fiscal and organizational resources. Maintains oversight and control over personnel management activities to attain organizational objectives. Provides technical assistance and expertise to appropriate offices, including the promotion of each program, consideration of these programs in multiple strategies, staffing, potential partnerships, economic activities, and restoration planning. Leads the development of Strategic Planning documents for programs. Assists in the review of congressional, Departmental, bureau guidance, policy and planning proposals to assure consistency with existing Federal laws, policies, and standards and to assure integration of material with a focus on the mission and responsibilities of the Service. Stimulates cross-program and cross-organizational consultation, cooperation, and partnerships. Supports senior management by collaborating with other program staff on program actions, implementation and advocacy. Manages natural resource issues through collaboration among Service counterparts, public and private organizations, industry, and individuals to integrate ecosystem concerns, views, and contributions into cohesive resource management projects and systems. In coordination with peers, develops geographic goals and priorities through ecosystem teams and leads activities to fulfill program objectives. Addresses ecosystem concepts and issues. Serves as coach/advocate for ecosystem teams and implements actions to meet long- and short-range plans and objectives. Performs a full range of supervisory/managerial duties and responsibilities over the assigned staff and organizational elements. Promotes and demonstrates a strong commitment to workforce diversity. Identifies program training/mandatory needs and expectations. Supervises the subordinate staff work on programmatic issues. Evaluates subordinate staff and teams on issue management. Coordinates the work of employees, contractors, and consultants in planning and conducting studies and projects (e.g., demographic studies, wildlife and plant surveys and studies, contaminant removal, environmental impact assessments, quality assurance projects, public use surveys, and program effectiveness reviews) related to program areas of responsibility.
