Key Responsibilities:
1. Program Development and Implementation:
- Develop, implement, and oversee comprehensive EHS and sustainability policies and procedures.
- Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate environmental and safety hazards.
- Create and manage sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the company’s environmental footprint.
2. Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal EHS regulations including OSHA, EPA, and other relevant agencies.
- Stay informed of current EHS regulations and sustainability best practices, ensuring timely updates to policies and procedures.
- Prepare and submit regulatory reports, permits, and documentation.
3. Training and Education:
- Develop and deliver EHS and sustainability training programs for employees.
- Conduct safety drills and environmental awareness sessions to ensure employee preparedness and compliance.
- Promote sustainability practices among employees and integrate these into daily operations.
4. Incident Management:
- Investigate and document workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to address safety and environmental issues.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, inspections, and corrective actions.
5. Environmental Management:
- Oversee waste management, pollution control, and environmental impact assessments.
- Ensure proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and chemicals.
- Monitor environmental conditions and ensure adherence to environmental regulations.
6. Sustainability Initiatives:
- Develop and manage sustainability programs focused on reducing energy consumption, waste, and resource use.
- Collaborate with various departments to integrate sustainable practices into company operations.
- Track and report on sustainability performance metrics and progress towards goals.
7. Health and Safety Monitoring:
- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities and equipment.
- Monitor workplace conditions and employee health to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
8. Communication and Reporting:
- Prepare and present EHS and sustainability reports to management and regulatory bodies.
- Communicate EHS and sustainability policies clearly to employees and address any concerns.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation including safety manuals, training records, incident reports, and sustainability performance.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Occupational Health and Safety, Sustainability, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), LEED accreditation) are advantageous.
- Experience: Proven experience in EHS management, sustainability initiatives, safety audits, and environmental compliance.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and sustainability practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze data, prepare reports, and present findings.
- Proficiency in EHS and sustainability software and tools.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to conduct site inspections and audits, involving walking, climbing, and lifting.
- Ability to respond to emergencies and provide first aid if necessary.
