About The Role
As the Head of Research at ZeroEx, you'll be a pivotal force in propelling our mission. You'll lead the charge in developing and implementing innovative research and strategies, ensuring our scientific approaches are both effective and impactful. This key leadership role involves tackling complex scientific challenges and supporting our startup's growth and sustainability.
What You'll Do
We're on the lookout for an experienced scientist with expertise in geochemistry, soil science, or agronomy to spearhead our measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV) practices for carbon removal. If you have strong managerial skills and a knack for leading and developing high-performing teams, you'll fit right in. Your work will span R&D and commercial activities, collaborating with our team on feedstock acquisition and logistics, and partnering with academic and industry experts. Your responsibilities will also include strategic planning, project management, and cross-functional coordination to drive our initiatives and successfully implement MRV practices.
Additional Responsibilities Will Include
- Developing and implementing methods to measure the weathering rates of silicate minerals in soils and associated carbon fluxes.
- Designing and overseeing field trials to compare methods and innovate new approaches.
- Coordinating the sampling and analysis of soil, soil pore water, and effluent, and developing relevant protocols.
- Building and maintaining a network in the Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) space, collaborating with academia, industry, and regulatory bodies.
Desired Knowledge And Experience
- PhD in Geochemistry, Soil Science, Agronomy, Environmental Science, Geoecology, Geology, or a related field.
- Deep understanding of soil processes related to inorganic and organic carbon cycles.
- Strong data management skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of dissolution kinetics of silicate-bearing minerals in soils.
- Experience with geochemical modeling (eg, PHREEQC or GWB) is an advantage.
- Experience in sampling and analyzing soils, rocks, and water.
- Experience in designing and conducting field or mesocosm trials.
