Hydro Global Business Services (GBS) is an organizational area that operates as an internal service provider for the Hydro group. Its ultimate purpose is to deliver relevant IT, financial and HR business services to all business areas within the company.
Job Responsibilities
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Functional Specialist is the solution expert of one or more functional area/module in MES.
Considered as the “go-to” person when detailed setup or solution design questions are to be addressed on a particular functional area.
He/she is accountable for the following tasks within the change control process
- Creation of the Functional Design Documentation including
- Detailed solution design
- Test scenarios/scripts to validate the solution
Within the Operational Support process, Functional Specialist is considered as 2nd level support.
Functional Specialist act as liaison with the live businesses to:
- Proactively engage with solution proposals
- Keep up networking within the respective functional area/module
- Ensure leveraging best practices
Functional Specialist tightly collaborates with the Solution Architects to:
- ensure global template consistency
- solution fits across locations
Functional Specialist supports multiple projects and BAU activities, so they are not dedicated resources for a single project.

Experience and qualifications
Work Experience
- Five years plus working with MES / ERP or variant in a hands-on environment
- Experience in operational support of MES systems,
- Extensive experience with application configuration, including workflows,
- Experience defining business requirements, writing functional design documentation,
- Expert level understanding of MES / ERP systems (Hydra preferably) modules and underlying architecture design,
- Experience integrating MES/ERP with different business systems, as well as working with integration tools.
Industry Experience
Full lifecycle MES/ ERP experience in manufacturing environment with specific understanding of manufacturing, supply chain, shop floor, commercial and finance processes and operations
Education
College or University (IT /Business Degree or Equivalent)
Licensing/Certification: BCS Practitioner Certificate or equivalent, PRINCE2
Functional Knowledge
Expert in depth understanding of business functions. Specific knowledge of at least one of the following modules
- Shopfloor & Manufacturing
- Supply Chain & Planning
- Quality
- ERP / Process control integrations
Language
Strong spoken and written English
