Role Summary
We are looking for an experienced and passionate engineer who can bring their expertise to help us create innovative technology solutions in support of our mission to keep the world adventurous forever. At Rivian, we value creative problem-solving, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate. To be successful in this role, you will need experience in the design, development and maintenance of components and assemblies. You should also have excellent communication and organizational skills, and a passion for finding innovative solutions. This role will sit out of our office in Irvine, CA, and report directly to the Manager of Component Engineering.
Responsibilities
- Support design engineering in the selection of electronic components for their applications
- Review Bill of Materials (BoM) to ensure compliance with application requirements (AEC-Q, Electrical/Mechanical attributes, etc.)
- Manage the supply chain lifecycle for electronic components (EOL/LTB, PCNs, etc.)
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams (Design, Supply Chain, Reliability, etc.)
- Generate internal part numbers in PLM system (Arena, 3DX Enovia, Agile, etc.)
- Support supply chain during clear to build (CTB) reviews by identifying alternate components for known shortages
- Develop strategic relationships with component manufacturers
- Contribute to overall process and workflow development between the cross functional teams
- Support PCBA and/or component level failure investigations
- Identify cost saving initiatives for electronic components
- Perform component level landscape studies
- Participate in cost reduction initiatives for next generation programs
- Basic electronic equipment troubleshooting skills
Qualifications
- Bachelors in Electronics Engineering; Master's preferred
- 2+ years’ experience in Component Engineering or engineering related discipline
- Proficient in reading electronic component specifications and drawings
- Familiarity with automotive grade component standards (AEC-Q)
- Experience using component risk and obsolescence management tools (Silicon Expert, Z2Data, etc.)
- Experience leading failure investigations and knowledge of 8D reports
- Experience with PLM systems (Arena, 3DX Enovia, Agile, etc.)
- Experience with ECAD component libraries (OrCAD, Altium, etc.)
- Familiarity with the EVT, DVT, and PVT stages of the design lifecycle
- Experience working in a high-speed environment with short development times
- Demonstrated strong creative thinking and problem-solving toolbox
