Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Chief Technologist to lead our research and development efforts in the areas of sealants, aerosols, atomization techniques, experimental design, sensors, controls, and IoT. The Chief Technologist will be responsible for designing and executing a strategic research agenda that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives. The successful candidate will have a passion for technical research and a proven track record of leading successful R&D initiatives and developing cutting edge hardware/software products.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute a strategic research agenda that supports the company's goals and objectives in the areas of sealants, aerosols, atomization techniques, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, experimental design, sensors, controls, and IoT.
- Lead a team of scientists and engineers to identify and prioritize new research opportunities based on the latest scientific findings.
- Design and conduct experiments in-house, at partner sites, and/or in the field to generate new scientific insights and innovations.
- Work closely with customers, partners, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements for sealants, aerosols, sensors, controls, and IOT.
- Develop and manage the research budget and resource allocation process.
- Stay up to date on industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape in the areas of sealants, aerosols, sensors, controls, air movement, and IOT.
- Build and maintain a strong scientific culture within the company.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages creativity and innovation.
- Manage our patent and intellectual property portfolio.
- Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
Qualifications:
- PhD in engineering, physics, chemistry, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in scientific research and development, with a track record of success in generating new scientific insights and innovations.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team of scientists and engineers in research experiments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience with scientific research, and the ability to design and conduct experiments to generate new scientific insights and innovations.
- Prior experience working with aerosols in paints or other industries is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of the HVAC industry and building science is a plus.
- Experience with intellectual property management and patent strategy is a plus.
