Your mission
As a Battery Test Engineer (all genders), you will join the VÆRIDION Test Team within the Technology division. You will lead our battery test activities from cell up to integrated battery-wing. You will be working in close cooperation with cell suppliers, external labs, and the internal technology and aircraft teams. You will be responsible for specifying and implementing battery test setups as well as coordinating and executing test campaigns.
Your Day-to-Day:
- Define and own the battery test strategy and contribute to the overall test strategy of the electrical propulsion system.
- Plan, define, execute, postprocess and evaluate battery characterization, integration and qualification tests from cell level up to integrated battery-wing.
- Define and implement test setups for the purpose of battery validation and verification. Specify and plan test equipment and associated facility interfaces. Lead the mechanical, electrical, thermal layout, implementation, and validation.
- Lead all battery test campaigns and act as a focal point to external test and lab personnel.
- Establish test plans, test procedures, and test reports and ensure traceability of results to design requirements.
- Generate battery test results eventually accepted as means of compliance for CS-23 aviation regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, contributing to battery cell and system modelling, SiL, and HiLactivities, with a focus on test synergies and opportunities to reduce risk, time and cost.
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulations as to personal safety, protection of equipment, installations, and environment.
- Stay updated and assess the latest advancements in battery technology, performance, and testing, including Accelerated Life Testing (ALT) and ageing test.
Your profile
- Master's degree or equivalent degree in electrical engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science, or a related field . Qualified electrician (“Elektrofachkraft”) would be a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in Li-ion cell and/or battery testing, technology, chemistry, design, production, modelling.
- Substantial experience in electric energy storage and testing, ideally in the field of electric mobility.
- Excellent knowledge ofV&V process, test management, measurement principles, data acquisition.
- Established network with battery test labs, cell manufacturers and researchers would be beneficial.
- Strong motivation to help building structures and processes.
- High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team as well as autonomously.

About us
VÆRIDION is a fast-growing deep tech start-up based in Munich, Germany. Since the restrictions by law on CO2 emissions for domestic and short-haul air travel will stimulate Green Regional Air Mobility, we believe it's our mission to provide an aircraft for Zero emission regional flights.
At VÆRIDION our goal is to develop, build and certify a full electric microliner carrying up to 9 passengers for Short-Haul and Regional Air Mobility by 2030. A full electric microliner is cleaner and cheaper to operate than other aeroplanes in its class, it provides a better travel experience door to door up to 500 km. We offer new optimized design based on proven principles, around proven and available technology in electric motors and batteries, that brings lowest risk and shortest route to certification.
