Operations & Maintenance Technician (O&M)

The Opportunity:
Ideal Energy is seeking a qualified Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Technician with experience in renewable energy to join our O&M Department. The O & M Field Technician will be responsible for tracking system performance via live web portals, responding to service tickets, communicating service schedules with customers, and performing field service including maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of battery energy storage systems and solar power plants (roof and ground mount). The ideal candidate should have a strong electrical and mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting capabilities and excellent organizational skills necessary to achieve production and must be capable of working independently or in a team environment.
What You’ll Do:
- Monitor all projects in web-enabled portals
- Ensure systems are meeting production output targets, and schedule preventive or corrective service when warranted
- Perform field diagnosis and troubleshoot various project systems issues such as inverters, switchgear, transformers, breakers, communications equipment, etc.
- Perform vegetation management when required
- Ensure that maintenance schedules are adhered to
- Create and/or respond to support tickets
- Handle scheduling with clients when field service is required
- Work with other members of the maintenance team, sub-contractors and other groups to continuously improve process, system performance, drive product quality and maintenance cost improvement
- Assist in training other O&M Technicians, or co-workers as required
- Assist in developing standard operating documents for machine maintenance, operations and training.
- Assist with project commissioning and testing providing knowledge expertise
- Conduct preliminary site surveys for the engineering team as required
- Adhere to all health and safety rules and company policies
- Maintain a clean and orderly workspace whether in office or onsite
- Conduct other duties as required
- Demonstrate exemplary ethics and professionalism at all times
About You:
- Minimum GED or HS diploma required, college degree preferred
- NABCEP certification is a plus
- Minimum 2 years’ technical experience in maintaining and troubleshooting machinery or electrical equipment, preferred in the renewable energy industry
- Preferred experience with PV maintenance, including DC systems, AC medium voltage systems, and network communications and monitoring
- Computer proficiency and ability to use Microsoft Office software
- Ability to learn and use project management software such as ProCore
- Ability to use CRM online ticketing system such as Service Hub or comparable
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, drawings, manuals, and specifications
- Willing to work nights during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance
- Willingness to travel as required
- Must be willing and able to climb ladders and stairs when required on site visits
- Must be able to wear PPE as required for specific clients and sites
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills (English)
- Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Location & Schedule:
This will be an in-office position and will include travel to our job-sites within the midwest. Our office hours are 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday.
