SES is seeking a Geothermal Technician to work with our project teams and clients in markets including K-12 Schools, Commercial, Indoor Agriculture, Higher Education, and Multifamily. Summary
Performs technical activities necessary for the generation of power from geothermal energy sources. Monitors and controls operating activities at geothermal power generation facilities and perform maintenance and repairs as necessary. Installs, tests, and maintains market sector geothermal heat pumps.
Accountability
- Identifying and correcting malfunctions of geothermal plant equipment, HVAC systems, instrumentation, or controls
- Install, maintain or design ground source heat pumps to heat and cool commercial buildings
- Monitor and make recommendations for operations of geothermal equipment or systems
- Upholding specifications when inspecting and installing geothermal system installations
- Create load calculations for geothermal feasibility studies
- Design and layout geothermal systems according to property characteristics, heating and cooling requirements, piping and equipment requirements, applicable regulations, or other factors
- Determine the type of geothermal loop system most suitable to a specific property and its heating and cooling needs
- Oversee and witness newly installed geothermal systems, flushing, purging, and other specifications
- Monitor geothermal system instrumentation or controls
- Monitor controls in accordance with geothermal plant logic
- Maintain, calibrate, repair, tools and devices used in field
- Witness flow and pressure tests of vertical and horizontal geothermal loop piping
- Collect and record data associated with installation of geothermal systems and bore fields
- Collaborate and aide in design of geothermal systems as assigned
- Install and maintain conductivity test equipment
- Coordinator with owners and drilling company to determine placement and scheduling of geothermal test bores
- Witness drilling of test bores and verify driller is keeping accurate drill log
- Prepare and maintain logs, reports, or other documentation of work performed
- Fusing piping, such as high-density polyethylene (HDPE) piping, using techniques such as butt, socket, sidewall, and electro-fusion
Qualifications and Experience
- Operation Monitoring: Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
- Troubleshooting: Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
- Monitoring: Monitoring/Assessing performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
- Operation and Control: Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
- Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
- Must have a reliable transportation and valid driver's license
- Must be mechanically incline and be familiar with basic tools
- Must have strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
