ExecuPOWER is seeking a Transmission Engineer for a direct, full-time opportunity to join our team. We specialize in providing premium engineering design services to the power transmission and distribution sector, with a focus on overhead and underground transmission lines. This position offers the flexibility of remote work with minimal oversight, allowing you to thrive in a dynamic and growing team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of design deliverables for high-voltage overhead and underground transmission lines.
- Develop routing, siting, and placement criteria, including manholes, duct bank design, plan and profiles, and ampacity calculations.
- Conduct cable selection studies, identify routing challenges, and determine riser structure configuration.
- Collaborate with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
- Develop project estimates, schedules, and evaluate design options to support the client project authorization process.
- Review and approve drawings and material lists, ensuring accurate entry into the client asset management system.
- Conduct field visits to verify routing conditions, assess design parameters, and perform factory visits to ensure compliance with material specifications.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and client safety regulations, including permit requirements and policies.
- Utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to maintain a safe working environment adhering to ExecuPOWER's and client's highest safety standards.
- Assist in power restoration efforts as part of the client's natural disaster response program.
- Perform administrative functions such as preparing technical reports, updating project status reports, and filing timesheets and expense reports in a timely manner.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical or Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
- At least 3 years of experience in transmission line design, with a focus on high-voltage transmission systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation, and GIS software.
- Experience with Asset Suite 8, SAP PM, or equivalent asset management software.
- Familiarity with NESC, EPRI Green Book, IEC, IEEE, ANSI, and ASCE 7.
- Proficiency with design tools such as PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, PLS-TOWER, MFAD, or LPILE.
- Experience using Pull-Planner for cable tensioning, CYMCAP, and ETAP for electrical modeling.
- Ability to work remotely with minimal oversight and excellent time management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is a plus.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or the ability to obtain it is preferred.
