Develop Your Sales Career in the Growing Renewable Energy Sector

Are you an experienced external salesperson with a background in electrical wholesale, technical products or a related industry?

Would you like to join a successful and expanding renewable energy business where you'll have the opportunity to develop your own territory, build long-term customer relationships and play an important role in the continued growth of the operation?

We're recruiting a Business Development Manager to join a leading specialist wholesaler of renewable energy products, supplying solar PV, battery storage and associated solutions to the trade.

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a developing territory across Cambridge, Ipswich, Essex and the surrounding areas, combining the independence of a field-based sales position with the backing and resources of one of the UK's largest electrical wholesale groups.

About the Business

Our client is an established specialist wholesaler supplying renewable energy products and solutions to electrical contractors, solar installers and trade customers throughout the UK. With a comprehensive product range covering solar PV, battery storage and associated renewable technologies, the business supports customers working across the residential, commercial and industrial renewable energy markets.

Operating as part of one of the UK's largest electrical wholesale groups, the company combines specialist product knowledge and industry expertise with the resources, supplier relationships and financial strength of an established national organisation. The business has experienced significant year-on-year growth and continues to expand its presence across the UK, creating opportunities for commercially minded individuals to contribute to its ongoing development.

The Role

Working closely with the Norwich management team, you'll be responsible for developing new business and building customer relationships across Cambridge, Ipswich, Essex and the surrounding areas. This is a proactive, field-based sales position where you'll have the freedom to manage your own diary, identify opportunities and develop a customer base across a territory with considerable potential.

You'll work with electrical contractors, renewable energy installers and other trade customers, helping them source the products and solutions they need while building long-term commercial relationships.

Your responsibilities will include:

Identifying and developing new business opportunities across your territory
Building relationships with electrical contractors, solar installers and other trade customers
Promoting a specialist range of solar PV, battery storage and renewable energy products
Developing existing customer relationships and identifying opportunities to increase sales
Proactively approaching prospective customers and generating new business
Working closely with the internal sales team to prepare quotations and support customer requirements
Developing your product knowledge and understanding of renewable energy technologies
Managing your own diary, customer visits and sales activity
Working closely with the Norwich management team to support the continued development of the business

The position will be predominantly field-based, with occasional visits to the Norwich branch. You'll have considerable autonomy to manage your territory while benefiting from the support of an experienced internal team.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys developing new business, building customer relationships and taking ownership of their own sales territory.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience in external sales, field sales or business development
A background in electrical wholesale, technical products, building services or a related industry
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A proactive, commercially minded approach to identifying and winning new business
The confidence and self-motivation to work independently and manage your own territory
Good organisational skills and the ability to manage customer relationships effectively
A genuine interest in renewable energy products and the wider industry

Previous experience selling solar PV, battery storage or renewable energy products would be particularly advantageous, although this isn't essential.

We're equally interested in hearing from experienced sales professionals within electrical wholesale or related technical industries who are keen to develop their knowledge and establish a career within the renewable energy sector.

Predominantly field-based position with considerable autonomy
Established business with significant opportunities for territory development
Product training and ongoing support
