Introduction

We are seeking a suitably qualified and experiencedQuality Control Managerto oversee and manage all quality assurance and quality control activities on a 9MW solar PV project in Springs, Gauteng.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all construction, installation and electrical works comply with approved engineering drawings, project specifications, applicable standards and quality requirements. The candidate must have proven experience in quality control on solar PV, renewable energy or large-scale construction projects and be capable of taking immediate responsibility for site quality management.

This is an immediate appointment, and candidates must be fully qualified, experienced and available to start without delay.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop, implement and manage the project Quality Management Plan and associated inspection and test plans (ITPs).
Conduct inspections and quality audits throughout all phases of construction and installation.
Ensure that all work complies with approved engineering drawings, technical specifications, project standards and applicable South African regulations.
Monitor the quality of civil works, foundations, mounting structures, solar panel installation, electrical cabling, inverters, earthing and associated infrastructure.
Inspect incoming materials and equipment to verify compliance with approved specifications and project requirements.
Coordinate inspections and testing with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and client representatives.
Identify, record and manage non-conformances, defects and deviations from approved specifications.
Implement corrective and preventive actions and verify that quality issues are resolved effectively.
Maintain accurate quality records, inspection reports, test results, material certificates and project documentation.
Ensure that inspection and testing activities are completed at the required stages before work proceeds.
Monitor subcontractor workmanship and ensure compliance with established quality standards.
Participate in site meetings, quality reviews, audits and technical discussions.
Oversee quality documentation required for commissioning, snagging and final project handover.
Report quality concerns, recurring defects and potential project risks to project management.
Ensure all quality documentation is properly compiled, maintained and available for project close-out.

Desired Experience & Qualification

Relevant tertiary qualification in Quality Management, Engineering, Construction Management or a related technical discipline.
Proven experience in a Quality Control or Quality Assurance management role on solar PV, renewable energy, electrical infrastructure or major construction projects.
Experience implementing quality management systems, inspection and test plans, and non-conformance management procedures.
Strong understanding of construction quality standards, engineering drawings, technical specifications and inspection procedures.
Knowledge of solar PV installation processes, electrical systems, civil works and associated infrastructure.
Familiarity with applicable SANS standards, relevant IEC standards and project-specific quality requirements.
ISO 9001 quality management training or certification will be advantageous.
Strong analytical, reporting, organisational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, manage subcontractors and maintain high quality standards under project deadlines.
Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
Must be fully qualified, suitably experienced and available to start immediately.
