Senior Environmental Advisor
Ravenswood Gold Mine | 8/6 DIDO | 2-Year Tenure (with possibility of extension)
Queensland’s largest gold mine. A team that backs you. Work that leaves a mark.
Some roles let you watch from the sidelines. This one puts you in the field, in the data, and at the table where decisions are made. As our Senior Environmental Advisor, you’ll be a trusted voice across a large-scale, long-life operation, working out on site and contributing to strategy that delivers lasting sustainability outcomes.
We’re looking for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Environmental, Approvals and Community team. You’ll report to the Environment Superintendent and become a trusted voice across a long-life, large-scale operation. Expect a mix of field work, compliance, projects and mentoring, with real environmental impact.
What you’ll be doing
No two swings look the same. You’ll move between the field, the data, the reporting and the people, and you’ll see the results of your work on the ground. You will:
- Coordinate monitoring programs for air, water, groundwater, soils, sediments and wastewater, and interpret the results
- Lead statutory reporting, including NGERS, NPI, DES waste and permit returns
- Lead incident investigations and drive corrective actions
- Strengthen our Environmental Management System
- Advise operational teams, deliver improvement projects and manage consultants
What you’ll bring
- 4+ years in a mining environmental role, ideally in metalliferous mining
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related field
- Strong monitoring, reporting, data analysis and investigation skills
- Experience managing consultants and contractors
- Great communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Proficiency in MS Office, environmental databases and GIS
- A current Queensland manual driver’s licence
- Residence within 200 km of Ravenswood (Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers), or a willingness to relocate
Bonus points for Queensland regulatory experience, QGIS skills, AUSRIVAS accreditation or 4WD experience.
