Scope of Job:We are seeking a Contract Manager to support our fast growth in the Solar Energy, Battery Storage and Electric Vehicle Charging industry.The Contract Manager will, in close partnership with internal leadership and business teams, review and redline contracts, lead contract negotiations, identify and communicate legal and commercial risks, and manage the full cycle of the business's internal legal needs and systems.
The ideal candidate will have strong contract drafting experience and relationship building skills, be highly organized, detail oriented (no typos please), and be someone who is able to work independently and take initiative to accomplish goals and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
Job Responsibilities:
- 40% Draft and redline contracts (including construction agreements, project sale agreements, and power purchase agreements); lead negotiations with counterparties and manage all needed approval processes for contract execution.
- 20% Serve as the main point of contact with internal business teams and leadership stakeholders in managing contract negotiations, and for communications around legal and contractual questions.
- 15% Identify issuesin agreements and propose solutions to business teams; develop business arguments for specific deals and new commercial issues that serve company interests and economic objectives, to enable closing deals and achieving company goals; providing summaries of key contract terms.
- 15% Lead the development of contracting systems, processes and playbooks; prepare and upkeep agreement templates; manage workflows and provide timely and complete reporting on all relevant activities to ensure transparency on the health and function of the business.
- 5% Keep abreast of the company’s vision, mission, values and services, as well as the competitive landscape and be able to articulate the company’s capabilities and offerings effectively to counterparties.
- 5% Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or other related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 4+ years of direct contracting experience (redlining and negotiation) in the construction, project finance, mergers & acquisitions, or energy industries; renewable energy experience a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. This includes both
legal drafting skills (defined terms, reviewing redlines, etc.), but also the
ability to write in a way that is clear, concise and without typos. Oral communication skills are required for working closely with cross-functional business teams, conducting negotiations, and relating to customers across all project lifecycle phases.
- Passionate about business results and renewables, and with a strong sense of accountability and ownership.
- Attention to detail, particularly while overseeing the full
contract cycle.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline-driven, team-oriented
environment.
- Self-starter who can complete tasks and manage responsibilities
with minimal supervision.
