Purpose and Job Summary
ORIX USA is seeking a financial professional located in New York to support the growth of our solar, wind, and energy storage business. The candidate will play a crucial role in various areas, including deal sourcing, assessing investment opportunities, leading in key due diligence work, as well as monitoring and managing portfolio companies. The ideal candidate should possess prior experience and in-depth knowledge of renewable energy markets in the United States
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Evaluate investment opportunities in the renewable energy, power and utilities sector in the United States in alignment with ORIX’s investment strategy.
Develop financial models that include operating, financial, tax and other relevant aspects to evaluate projects at various stages of development, both on an individual and portfolio basis
Thorough understanding of U.S. tax equity investment structures and typical financing arrangements for renewable projects. This enables synthesis of financial models incorporating construction loans, tax equity bridge loans and sponsor equity with back-leverage loans in both time and yield-based partnership flip structures.
Collaborate closely with internal technical teams and engage external advisors in accounting, commercial, tax and legal areas. Effectively incorporate findings and assumptions into financial models, as well as review of commercial aspects of transaction documents
Provide commercial and financial support throughout project development and acquisition activities by identifying key risks and considerations associated with potential transactions.
Prepare investment committee presentation materials and regular reporting documents in a clear and concise manner.
Maintain knowledge of renewable requirements of various U.S. independent operators’ systems, and conduct research on new investment ideas within the power and renewable energy space
Travel domestically and internationally for due diligence purposes, site visits and conferences
Education, Skills & Experience
A minimum of 2+ years of experience with renewable sector focus, in an investment bank, financial advisory or accountancy firm
Background in corporate finance and familiarity with solar and wind energy modelling tools
Highly analytical and detailed oriented expert in conducting financial analysis, and ability to clearly articulate technical assumptions.
Strong interests in developing commercial relationships. Possess positive attitude and capable of contributing to a dynamic, team-oriented and culturally diverse environment.
Enjoy working with various stakeholders and shareholders to facilitate ORIX’s due diligence process and portfolio management activities.
Equivalent bachelor’s degree in finance or similar field of study
Annual base salary gross: $125,000 - $150,000 (NY only). The base salary range represents the estimated low and high end of the ORIX USA’s salary for this position. Actual base salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and proficiency for the role. The base pay is one component of ORIX USA’s total compensation package for employees.
