Working in Systematic Trading
Statkraft trades energy products in more than 20 countries and is active on 13 energy exchanges. Proprietary trading takes place mainly from trading rooms in Oslo, Düsseldorf, London, and the Unites States. Statkraft trades power, natural gas, carbon certificates, oil, and petroleum products in the global markets.
The Systematic trading team works on a lot of data analysis and explore new trading ideas. At the same time, it follows closely development of energy prices on the market and execute signals given by the trading systems. Through prop trading the team provide liquidity to energy markets which is very important in facilitating stable and smooth running of energy market system across Europe. Job Description
The key aspect of this role is about assisting trading making profits in the market by solving relevant complex problems and providing quantitative solutions to these problems.
The emphasis is on developing both qualitatively and quantitatively advantaged capabilities, supported as appropriate by models, tools and techniques that yield high quality insight. In this role you will report directly to the Head of Systematic Trading.
As a Quantitative Analyst, you will:
- Collaborate with traders to design, backtest and implement systematic trading strategies.
- Develop and maintain our trading infrastructure, including tools for analyzing and visualizing positions, risk targets, PnL and market dynamics
- Collaborate with IT to develop and maintain historical price database
- Conduct research and analysis to improve trading algorithms and strategies.
- Work closely with other team members to monitor trading performance and manage risk.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies, academic research and industry trends.
Qualifications
- University degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economics or any related degrees required
- At least 3 years of experience in energy sector or trading
- Strong analytical skills and programming experience with Python is required
- Commercial mind-set with good communicative and problem-solving skills
- Team player with a proactive and independent working style
- Experience with commodities trading and/or algorithmic trading is preferred
