JOB SUMMARY: The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Fossil Energy and Carbon Management - Headquarters is looking for a dynamic, innovative, seasoned executive to lead research and development programs related to activities that involve the environmentally sustainable production and use of oil and natural gas resources, developing new technologies to reduce or eliminate methane emissions across the natural gas supply chain and improving critical mineral economics. MAJOR DUTIES: As the Director Office of Research and Development you will: Provide leadership management and direction for the Office, including strategic planning, key engagements, human resources, financial management, and program execution processes. Direct the Office organizational activities, frames strategic plans based on broad organizational assessments and evaluations of long-term organizational objectives. Oversee the development of strategies for the purposes of planning research and development programs related to advanced remediation technologies, methane mitigation technologies and minerals sustainability. Manage and execute budgets for research and development activities, articulates rationale for budget priorities and negotiate the defense of the Administration's budget within program areas of responsibilities. Represent Department of Energy on advanced remediation technologies, methane mitigation technologies and minerals sustainability technology and science in dealings with other Government agencies, the Office of Management and Budget, Congressional staff, private industry, academic institutions, and the public. Serve as a senior advisor to senior Departmental leaders on technical requirements and matters pertaining to oil, natural gas, coal, and critical minerals. Provide technical and administrative supervision over subordinate organizations and resolve problems stemming from coordinating and directing activities complicated by particularized arrangements made between subordinate organizations.
