Automation Engineer
Location: Pittsburgh, PA - hybrid
Type: 6-Month Contract
Overview
This role will primarily focus on control system hardware and engineering documentation, including PLC enclosures, junction boxes, I/O schematics, and cable schedules. The project will utilize Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLCs with FLEX 5000 I/O modules.
PLC programming experience is not required for this position.
Responsibilities
- Develop control system enclosure designs for approximately 10–15 enclosures
- Support control system design using Allen-Bradley ControlLogix and FLEX 5000 I/O
- Develop junction box designs for wire marshalling and local instrument connections
- Develop and review I/O schematics
- Develop and maintain cable schedules
- Coordinate control system hardware and field instrumentation connections
- Work with project drafters and designers to develop and complete design drawings and documentation
- Support overall automation and controls engineering activities throughout the design phase
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience with automation, controls, or instrumentation & controls (I&C) engineering
- Experience with control system hardware and enclosure/panel design
- Understanding of PLC I/O, junction boxes, field instrumentation, and control wiring
- Familiarity with Allen-Bradley ControlLogix or similar PLC systems preferred
- Ability to develop and/or review I/O schematics and cable schedules
