Job Description:
Binghamton University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor of Global Public Health in the area of Environmental Health beginning Fall 2027. Candidates who recognize and investigate disparities in environmental health risk and/or environmental justice as part of their scholarship and teaching, particularly in the global context, are encouraged to apply. Qualified candidates should be able to teach effectively the scientific basis of environmental health as well as applicable policy issues. Applicants should show a strong program of research. Applicants at the associate level should demonstrate success in securing funding and capacity for program leadership.
The selected candidate will be part of the core faculty in Binghamton University's new undergraduate Global Public Health program (https://www.binghamton.edu/harpur/global-public-health/) with tenure berth in the Department of Environment & Sustainability (https://www.binghamton.edu/environmental-studies/). Our new colleague will teach two courses per semester including core courses in the Global Public Health program as well as others in their area of expertise.
The Global Public Health program provides transdisciplinary training for students broadly interested in health and particularly interested in disease prevention. We are especially interested in scholars who will capitalize on collaboration opportunities at the university. The Department of Environment & Sustainability is an interdisciplinary department focused on understanding and addressing the complex environmental and sustainability challenges facing communities, nations, and the planet. Through interdisciplinary education, community-engaged learning, and applied research, faculty members in the department examine the dynamic relationship between human societies and the natural world and prepares students to understand, communicate about, and develop solutions to environmental challenges.

Requirements:
Required qualifications:
- PhD by August 16, 2027 in Environmental Health or a related field, such as Public Health, Environmental Science, Geography, etc.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's in global public health or health education, or public health
- Experience securing external research funding
- Experience teaching at the university level
- Experience engaging students in research
- Experience with community-based collaborative research with diverse communities.
