Summary
You will serve as a Field Unit Local Hiring Authority (FUL) - Maintenance Worker CARIBBEAN ISLANDS NWR COMPLEX. This position performs intermediate construction, rehabilitation, maintenance, and trade work using hand and power tools at sites of varying size and complexity for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in Culebra, Puerto Rico.
Major Duties
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Maintain restrooms, roads, parking areas, boat ramps, etc. Aid in installation/repair of cabinets, fences, siding, etc. Use a variety of hand and power tools including hand saws, drills, planes, routers, power nailers and fasteners, metal shears, power saws, and power sanders and planes to maintain facilities. Operate farm tractors, backhoes, mowers and other types of equipment to construct and maintain refuge facilities. Interpret work orders, equipment manuals, and installation instructions to safely complete maintenance, equipment operation, and repair projects, and train staff and volunteers in proper safety practices.
