Summary
You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (Protection) - Deputy Chief Ranger at Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. his position serves as the Deputy Chief Ranger for Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve and New Orleans Jazz National Historical Park, which includes six units located in southern Louisiana, as well as provides law enforcement support to a third National Park Service site, Cane River Creole National Historical Park.
Major Duties
This position serves as the principal advisor to the Chief Ranger relative to visitor and resource protection issues and assists the Chief Ranger with a variety of administrative assignments. Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Supervise Law Enforcement Staff and Operations: Manages law enforcement personnel across park units, ensuring supervision, staff development, performance evaluation, and compliance with safety and equal opportunity standards. Provide Professional Law Enforcement Guidance: Delivers expert legal and technical advice to officers, supporting Department of Interior and National Park Service law enforcement missions and compliance. Plan and Manage Law Enforcement Programs: Oversees patrols, emergency services, protection, programming, budgeting, and crime prevention, developing operational plans. Conduct and Oversee Investigations: Supervises investigations of offenses, coordinates with agencies, and addresses community concerns. Represent Park Law Enforcement Interests: Serves as liaison, manages contracts and permits, interacts with officials, and develops agreements to resolve jurisdictional issues.
