Health & Safety Officer
Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 per annum

The Opportunity:
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Health & Safety Officer to join a successful and growing food manufacturing business.
This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive Health & Safety professional to take ownership of day-to-day health and safety across a busy manufacturing environment, working closely with site management and operational teams to maintain and continuously improve safety standards.
Experience within food manufacturing is highly desirable, with experience within baked goods, bakery, food production or FMCG manufacturing being particularly advantageous.
The Role:
As Health & Safety Officer, you will be responsible for supporting and driving a positive health and safety culture across the site. You will work closely with employees, supervisors, managers and senior leadership to ensure that health and safety standards are consistently maintained and improved.
Key responsibilities will include:
Supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of the site's Health & Safety strategy.
Conducting regular workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments.
Identifying hazards and implementing appropriate corrective and preventative actions.
Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate actions are identified and followed through.
Maintaining accurate Health & Safety records, documentation and reporting.
Supporting compliance with relevant UK Health & Safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
Delivering or coordinating Health & Safety training, inductions and toolbox talks.
Advising managers and employees on safe systems of work and appropriate control measures.
Supporting the development and review of policies, procedures, risk assessments and method statements.
Monitoring contractor Health & Safety performance where required.
Working collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Quality and Operations teams.
Promoting a proactive, positive and continually improving Health & Safety culture throughout the site.
About You:
We are looking for a confident and practical Health & Safety professional who is comfortable working within a fast-paced operational environment.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience in a Health & Safety Officer, Advisor or similar role.
Experience within manufacturing, FMCG or food production.
Bakery or baked-goods manufacturing experience would be highly desirable.
Good working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation.
Experience undertaking risk assessments, audits and workplace inspections.
Experience investigating accidents, incidents and near misses.
The ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels.
A hands-on, practical approach to Health & Safety.
The confidence to challenge unsafe practices and influence operational teams.
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent Health & Safety qualification is desirable.
IOSH membership or equivalent professional development would be advantageous.
