We’re looking for an intermediate-level Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist responsible for implementing safety, environmental, and transportation compliance programs across an MRO network. This role partners with operations leaders, warehouse teams, and corporate stakeholders to reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental performance.
Our corporate headquarters is located in Chicago, IL. This role operates on a hybrid work model; employees spend three days working in the office and two days working remotely. We offer 401k plus vision, dental and medical benefits, as well as a paid holiday and PTO package.
Responsibilities:
Safety Leadership
- Lead facility safety programs and initiatives.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Investigate incidents using root cause analysis methodologies.
- Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Manage EHS-related recordkeeping and regulatory compliance activities.
- Facilitate safety committees and engagement programs.
- Environmental Compliance
- Manage hazardous waste handling and disposal programs.
- Coordinate environmental reporting requirements.
- Maintain permits and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Lead spill prevention and environmental response activities.
Transportation & Hazmat Compliance
- Administer hazardous materials transportation programs.
- Review and approve transportation classifications.
- Ensure compliance with shipping regulations and documentation requirements.
- Deliver hazardous materials employee training.
- Support audits involving transportation and dangerous goods compliance.
Training & Continuous Improvement
- Develop and deliver EHS training programs.
- Analyze safety metrics and trends.
- Identify and implement risk reduction strategies.
- Partner with site leadership to improve safety culture.
- Additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Engineering, or related field, with at least 3 years of environmental health and safety experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of EHS regulations.
- Experience leading incident investigations and compliance initiatives.
- Strong analytical, project management, and communication skills.
Preferred
- ASP, CHMM, or equivalent certification.
- Multi-site distribution, logistics, or MRO industry experience.
- Experience managing hazardous materials transportation compliance.

Our salary range for this role is $73,400 - $88,040 including a full benefits package.
