Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Mechanic to support our high-volume recycling operation. This position is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining industrial recycling equipment to maximize uptime and ensure production goals are met.
We are looking for a proactive mechanic, not someone who simply responds to breakdowns. This position is expected to identify potential problems early, stay ahead of equipment failures, complete preventive maintenance, and properly manage maintenance work orders.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair industrial recycling equipment.
- Perform scheduled preventive and predictive maintenance to reduce unplanned downtime.
- Inspect equipment and identify developing problems before they cause failures.
- Create, manage, update, and close maintenance work orders.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, conveyor, bearing, gearbox, and related equipment issues.
- Identify recurring equipment problems and help develop permanent solutions.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate repair and preventive-maintenance records.
- Follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout requirements.
- Assist with welding, fabrication, equipment modifications, and improvement projects as needed.
On-Call Rotation
This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule to support the plant when unexpected equipment issues occur outside normal working hours. On-call callouts are paid at double-time call pay.
Qualifications
- Industrial maintenance, manufacturing, recycling, or heavy-equipment maintenance experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Experience with industrial machinery, hydraulics, pneumatics, conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, and motors.
- Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.
- Experience with preventive maintenance and computerized work-order systems preferred.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize maintenance needs, and take ownership of equipment reliability.
What We’re Looking For
The right candidate doesn’t wait for equipment to break. We want someone who takes ownership of the equipment, identifies problems early, stays ahead of preventive maintenance, and takes pride in keeping the plant running safely and efficiently.
Success in this position means less downtime, fewer emergency repairs, longer equipment life, and consistent production.
