DescriptionJob Purpose
Responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe and efficient operation of BESS plant equipment and systems through preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance, with a focus on maximizing equipment availability and minimizing downtime.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance activities for BESS equipment and associated plant systems.
- Maintain and troubleshoot battery racks/modules, PCS, BMS, EMS, HVAC/cooling systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS and auxiliary systems.
- Monitor equipment health, alarms, trips and performance parameters through BMS/SCADA/EMS.
- Diagnose electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and control-related failures and coordinate timely corrective actions.
- Develop and execute Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules, checklists and maintenance standards.
- Analyze recurring breakdowns using RCA, 5-Why, Fishbone and FMEA methodologies and implement corrective/preventive actions.
- Ensure optimum BESS availability, reliability and MTBF, while reducing MTTR and unplanned downtime.
- Coordinate with OEMs, service providers and contractors for equipment commissioning, maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Maintain critical spares, consumables, maintenance tools and inventory for BESS systems.
- Ensure compliance with electrical safety, LOTO, fire safety, battery safety and plant EHS procedures.
- Support emergency response for battery-related events, including thermal runaway, abnormal temperature rise, smoke/gas detection and system isolation, as per approved SOPs.
- Maintain maintenance records, equipment history, breakdown reports, PM compliance and MIS/KPI dashboards.
- Participate in commissioning, installation, testing and performance validation of new BESS equipment.
- Coordinate with Operations, Projects, EHS and Engineering teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
- Train maintenance technicians on BESS equipment, troubleshooting procedures, safety practices and SOPs.
