Summary
The primary purpose of the Motor Vehicle Operator (Seasonal) is to operate one or more motor vehicles, which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight of more than 10,000 pounds and up to 26,000 pounds. These positions may be filled for a seasonal period, up to 1560 hours, but can vary due to weather conditions, project needs, or funding. Anticipated Entry on Duty: October 2026 - March 2027
Major Duties
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Operates and performs operator maintenance on one or more motor vehicles including platform trucks, van trucks, stake trucks, dump trucks, passenger shuttle vans, and cargo vans. Operates dump trucks to haul earth, gravel, sand, and similar construction materials or debris such as logs, stumps, and stone. May be assigned to assist journeyman workers in performing duties common to the trades of plumbing, carpentry, painting, and electrical. May assist in the performance of duties related to other trades as required. Does manual labor tasks, such as, pulling, and digging grass between bricks and replacing sand between brick, cleaning drainage ditches, lifting, and emptying trash containers, cleaning restrooms, picking up litter, cleaning picnic grills, etc.; works roads and trails in connection with raking and graveling.
