Battery Lab Test Engineer (Job Description)
Onsite in MTV
This position is responsible for set-up, execution and reporting of Li-ion battery
testing associated with new lithium ion battery designs with emphasis on protection circuit functionality. Also, this position is expected to provide technical support
and coordination for battery testing which requires the knowledge & experience
with the Battery test system. The tasks of this position will be conducted both
independently and in collaboration with battery design engineers. The successful
candidate is a dedicated team player who is tolerant of risk and uncertainty,
thrives in a highly-technical, collaborative environment and has experience working within multidisciplinary teams.
Minimum Qualifications
● At least 3 years of practical laboratory experience, including the
battery protection circuit testing for lithium ion batteries.
● Good understanding of Li-ion safety standards and related safety hazards
during test
● Position requires skills in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing batteries.
● Good understanding of battery protection circuit parts, some experience with PCB/device rework and thermal testing.
● Experience in working with Oscilloscope, Power Supply, E-load, DMM, and DAQ equipment
● Knowledge of battery testing equipment such as Maccor with the ability to handle, process and summarize large and complex datasets.
● Strong integrity with a collaborative style which earns the respect of peers and subordinates
● Hands on lab-work with ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Preferred Qualifications
● Ability to execute battery protection circuit level testing based on schematics
● Good communications skills, knowledge of python coding for data processing and testing automation
● Ability to interpret battery test results for troubleshooting
Education & Experience
● BS+ in Electronics, Science, or Engineering discipline
