Position Overview
We are currently seeking a Sr. Hardware Technician, PWT, as part of product engineering organization in the plant. The candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams to drive product/specification related investigations to resolution for the products in production. • Supports component/system/vehicle level troubleshooting using standard communication/diagnostic tools (Canalyzer/Canape, etc.)/RCA test benches
• Supports RCA of complex component/system level problems using standard problem-solving techniques
• Supports lineside trials to verify process/equipment compatibility & RCA activities
• Responsible for board level preliminary PCBA board analysis
• Supports audits against design intent assembly requirements of Drive Unit beyond control plan
• Execute prototype builds, trials, troubleshooting, & RCA of product/multi-variable issues in close collaboration with Engineers on the team
• Support vehicle upfits & tests on as needed basis in close collaboration with Engineers on the team
Skills
• Good functional understanding of all the systems in EV Powertrain
• Possess strong interpersonal and teamwork skills to work effectively with team members at all levels.
• Experience in building, testing, and troubleshooting HV battery pack, Drive Units, & Power Electronics Components
• Working understanding basic electrical principles.
• Strong understanding on proper handling of Battery Cells, Modules, Packs, Power Electronics, & Drive unit.
• Familiar with electrical hazard risks including high voltage systems.
• Can interpret schematics to help understand the function & interfaces of Power Electronics components
• Proficient in use of tools to perform teardown of electrical systems.
• Good with vehicle level troubleshooting for powertrain related faults using standard OBD diagnostic tools.
• Good with basic machining operations and can read drawings
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills (English).
• Can lift 20-30 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds with via team-lift.
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma with significant relevant professional experience.
• Preferred: Technical or Vocational Degree or Certificate.
• Minimum of 5 years of electrical, mechatronic, or automotive technician experience.
• Experience using vehicle & system level communication or diagnostic tools for troubleshooting multi-variable complex issues
• Experience troubleshooting power electronics components/assemblies at the PCBA board level
• Awareness of HV Battery Packs, HV Harnesses, Onboard charging unit, Drive Unit, Inverter Power Electronics & associated troubleshooting at the system & product level
• Prior Experience working with High Voltage environment
