DescriptionJPMorgan’s Tax Oriented Investments (TOI) group is responsible for investing the Firm’s own capital in earning assets that are tax-advantaged in the US. Current TOI assets include affordable housing investments, alternative energy projects, and equipment leases. Since 2003 the Energy Investments team has invested or raised from other institutional investors over $20 billion in wind, solar and geothermal projects, making JPMorgan a leading player in the rapidly growing market for renewable energy tax equity. The TOI group employs over 100 professionals, is based in Chicago, and is part of the Corporate & Investment Bank.
As a Client Service Analyst, within the Middle Office Portfolio Management Group, you will be supporting the Energy and Housing product areas within TOI. Your primarily focus will be on the Energy product, but you will also work with teams that are responsible for maintaining complex pricing models for each transaction, incorporating new data relative to accounting, taxes, operations, and cash flows, and analysis of the model results.
Job responsibilities:
- Manage a portfolio of renewable energy tax credit transactions, which include model updates, analysis, and an overall understanding of the investment structure and risks
- Analyze partnership financial statements, tax returns, monthly operating reports, and tracking models
- Incorporate actual financial results as well as forecast changes on a quarterly basis; perform sensitivity analysis for assigned transactions and update for annual tax return filings
- Work closely with TOI origination group and asset management group when analyzing investments to understand deal specific dynamics
- Work directly with outside clients (sponsors) on a regular basis to solve issues related to assigned transactions
- Work with TOI origination, asset management, and technology groups to implement new functionality to automate existing pricing models and systems
- Provide support and analysis related to asset workouts, dispositions, and other ad hoc requests
- Develop an understanding of the financial results for assigned transactions and be able to explain to management
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong analytical capacity (including partnership tax and accounting knowledge)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft excel, including moderate/advance formula composition skills (i.e., extensive “if” statements and “look-up” formulas)
- Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
- Ability to interact with a variety of colleagues and clients
- Strong written and verbal communications skills
- Willingness to be flexible and desire to work in a team oriented environment
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
- CPA preferred
- Economic modeling experience is a plus
