Position Purpose: The Safety & Sustainability Coordinator helps lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of safety, sustainability and training programs across the organization. This role establishes systems and processes that enhance workplace safety, sustainability, ensure compliance, and build organizational capability. In partnership with site leadership, the Safety & Sustainability Coordinator provides expertise, coaching, and support to drive best practices, strengthen culture, and ensure effective training execution.
Key Specific Responsibilities:
Support the development and execution of departmental safety & Sustainability goals, objectives, and performance metrics (KPIs).
Support the safety reporting processes, including near misses, incidents, workers’ compensation, and OSHA recordkeeping (e.g., OSHA 300 log, annual reporting). Including the RCA process.
Coordinate and deliver safety-related training programs, including new hire orientation, monthly safety training, and food safety training.
Monitor training compliance by managing data entry and reporting within training systems; provide insights to leadership.
Help to design safety and sustainability training to drive results, build a culture and maintain compliance.
Present safety and sustainability training.
Facilitate safety committees and participate in cross-functional safety teams to drive engagement and continuous improvement.
Represent the organization in external safety & sustainability groups (e.g., Safety Council, Greater Cleveland Partnership) and incorporate best practices and benchmarking insights.
Partner with management and HR to support employee relations related to safety & sustainability, including coaching, counseling, and consistent application of policies.
Partner with HR to support an effective workers compensation program.
Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and employment regulations.
Support and maintain specialized safety programs (e.g., powered industrial truck program, LOTO Program, PPE Program, JSA Program, Safety Key Element Program).
Identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities through data analysis and communicate recommendations to leadership.
Provide support for driving landfill diversion at all sites (including recycling, reuse and avoidance programs)
Provide support to drive utility consumption reduction efforts at all sites.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications for Position (Experience, Education and Licensure):
Bachelors degree Safety, Business Management/Administration, HR, or relevant field - Required
OSHA 30 hour certification - Preferred
3-5 years manufacturing experience in union/non-union manufacturing facility - Preferred

May at different times during the day to support a 3-shift operation.
Travel Requirements:
Overnight Travel – not required
