Summary
You will serve as a Utility Systems Repairer Operator Helper. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes. First time hires to the Federal government normally start at the step 1 rate.
Major Duties
Some of the major duties you will perform include but are not limited to the following: Performing maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electromechanical, electrical and pneumatic equipment pertaining to water treatment and lift station operations; Installing and repairing new and existing piping systems to include: PVC, copper, ductile, HDPE, cast and/or galvanized; Observing and monitoring wastewater conveyance equipment and operating conditions to determine process requirements; Maintaining regulatory compliance of water and wastewater systems as well as conditions of lift stations and associated equipment. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level. You will work under closer than normal supervision at the trainee level performing assignments designed to provide the competencies, skills, and experience required to perform the more complex work at the journey level. The work increases in difficulty, complexity, and responsibility as you gain experience and demonstrate a full comprehension of the target level position. As a trainee, you must perform work under the direct supervision and oversight of a journey level position.
