Situated in Ludington, Michigan, the Michigan Power facility is a 125 MW 1x1 combined cycle cogeneration plant featuring a single Frame 7EA gas turbine. Opportunity Summary
Under the administrative direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician will maintain the complete cogeneration facility, including water treatment plant, gas and steam turbines, heat recovery boilers, electrical generators, and auxiliary equipment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Attends, supports, and participates in monthly safety meetings and facility safety program.
- Supports and utilizes the Standing Orders procedure.
- Supports and participates in safety committee program and when selected as a safety committee team member, attends all monthly safety committee meetings.
- Understands, supports, and follows the safety guidelines and procedures that have been set by management & NAES Corporate office.
- Understands, supports, and follows the NAES and Michigan employee manual & memorandums.
- Maintain positive professional attitude and establish and maintain productive work relationships with all co-workers at all times.
- Perform routine inspection and repair of all mechanical equipment, buildings and grounds with minimum rework or downtime.
- Troubleshoot non-routine equipment malfunctions and identify short- and long-term repair options.
- Maintain work areas, housekeeping assignments and required tool inventories.
- Effectively coordinate and direct outside contractors for maintenance/repair activities to minimize plant upsets.
- Works regularly scheduled 8- or 10-hour shifts plus callouts and overtime. Participates in On Call rotation.
- Maintain warehouse inventory and recommend needed spares.
- Maintain current technical documentation on mechanical systems and equipment. Assist in updating and writing procedures.
- Assist operations in emergency shutdowns and start-ups and troubleshoot of equipment malfunctions.
- Utilize Maximo Maintenance Management System to implement comprehensive preventive/predictive maintenance programs and documentation.
- Understands, supports and follows the NERC guidelines required for power generation.
- Follows directions from all management team members.
- Ensures work orders are completed in a timely manner and are accurate, complete and concise.
- Supports the Maintenance Supervisor with the Management of Change Process.
- Maintain an ongoing skill and knowledge development plan.
- Maintain current technical level & re-qualification as scheduled by management.
- Special assignments, project coordination, and temporary assignments as requested by management.

Working Relationships
The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the maintenance manager.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time, climbing stairs and ladders, working from elevated platforms and walkways at varying heights, and routinely lifting up to 50 pounds.
Power plant environment that may involve entering confined spaces, crawling through narrow areas, and handling hazardous materials, with exposure to fumes, extreme temperatures, and noise. Work may include high heat near equipment and varying outdoor weather conditions.
Some duties may require the use of protective equipment, which can include hard hats, safety glasses, and eye protection, air masks/respirators, ear protection, chemical suits, flame-resistant clothing (FRC), hot gloves, high-voltage protective gear, and fall protection. Fit testing for respirators may be required. Strict smoking restrictions apply in and around the facility.
Fitness for Duty
All personnel will participate in the Fitness for Duty Program, which includes a post-offer physical examination, drug screening, and post-employment random drug screening.
Work Schedule
The Maintenance technician will work 8- or 10-hour shifts, for 40 hours weekly. This position will also occasionally necessitate extended working hours, and flexible shifts as needed, including weekends and holidays, in response to schedules, workload demands, and plant conditions. Periodic callouts or “On call” status may also be required.
Compensation
This position offers a base pay rate ranging from $35.00 to $45.00 per hour, along with eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

- External Relationships - Ability to communicate with internal and external technical resources, suppliers and customers in a professional manner.
- Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it always remains in good standing.
