The Role
The Senior Scientist / Geologist serves as a senior technical leader within Tasman's Engineering & Consulting group, providing expertise, guidance, and strategic direction across large projects, client programs, and cross-functional teams.
This role is responsible for defining technical approaches, reviewing complex environmental projects, supporting innovation initiatives, mentoring staff, and helping drive successful project execution. The ideal candidate is a highly experienced environmental professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges while supporting the development of project teams and technical programs.

What You'll Be Doing
Technical Leadership & Environmental Expertise
- Provide technical oversight and guidance on complex environmental projects and sites
- Review environmental investigations, remediation strategies, and corrective action approaches
- Evaluate and support implementation of innovative remedial technologies and solutions
- Serve as a technical resource for project teams, clients, and leadership
- Support company-wide technical initiatives and best practices
Project Support & Technical Reviews
- Review and provide guidance on work plans, technical reports, and Corrective Action Plans (CAPs)
- Assist project teams with project scoping, planning, scheduling, and technical execution
- Support project managers in managing project risks, deliverables, and client expectations
- Help define project priorities and technical objectives
- Ensure technical consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance across projects
Leadership, Mentorship & Collaboration
- Mentor and train environmental scientists, geologists, engineers, and project staff
- Lead cross-functional teams and coordinate technical resources across projects
- Foster accountability, ownership, and collaboration within project teams
- Support workforce development and technical growth initiatives
- Provide high-level technical problem solving and decision support
Strategic & Organizational Support
- Contribute to development of technical standards, methodologies, and best practices
- Support innovation efforts and continuous improvement initiatives
- Influence technical direction for major projects and client programs
- Collaborate with engineering, construction, EHS, and project controls teams to achieve project objectives
What You Bring
- Relevant technical diploma, bachelor's degree, or equivalent higher education in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in environmental consulting, engineering, remediation, or oil & gas sectors
- Specialized knowledge of environmental investigation and remediation practices
- Demonstrated experience supporting projects of varying size, scope, and complexity
- Experience collaborating with EHS, engineering, construction, and project controls teams
- Advanced technical problem-solving abilities
- Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent technical writing and document preparation skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to influence outcomes and drive collaboration across teams
- Valid driver's license
- Authorization to work in the United States
Preferred
- Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Experience working with environmental regulatory agencies
- Strong knowledge of environmental compliance and remediation programs
- Experience leading innovation initiatives and technical development efforts
- Professional registration or certifications relevant to environmental or engineering disciplines
Work Environment
This role operates primarily in a professional office environment with occasional field responsibilities.
Office & Field Conditions
- Primarily office-based work supporting project teams and technical programs
- Occasional field visits for project reviews, evaluations, and technical support
- Exposure to varying weather conditions during site visits
- Potential exposure to environmental contaminants in controlled project settings
- Use of PPE and compliance with all safety requirements during field activities
Physical Requirements
- Frequent computer and office-based work
- Regular use of hands, fingers, and communication equipment
- Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain during site visits
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 30 pounds
Schedule
- Full-time
- Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
- Occasional evening or weekend work based on project demands
- Flexibility to support client and project needs when required
Required Education & Experience
- Relevant technical diploma or university degree
- 8+ years of experience in environmental consulting, engineering, remediation, or oil & gas sectors
- Strong technical expertise in environmental practices and remediation methods
- Experience managing or supporting complex projects and technical programs
Work Authorization
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
- Must possess a valid driver's license
