Job Summary
Southern Company Services is seeking an Environmental Laboratory Analyst I to support environmental testing and laboratory operations. This entry-level role is responsible for preparing and analyzing environmental samples, maintaining laboratory documentation, and supporting compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will have a strong science background, attention to detail, and a commitment to laboratory safety and quality.
Key Responsibilities
·Prepare environmental samples for laboratory analysis, including logging, weighing, spiking, and sample preparation.
·Perform laboratory testing using standard analytical techniques and equipment.
·Receive, inspect, log, and process customer samples.
·Prepare sample kits and support shipping and receiving activities.
·Maintain accurate laboratory records and environmental documentation.
·Follow laboratory safety procedures and support environmental compliance initiatives.
·Assist with emergency response procedures for environmental incidents and spills.
·Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely test results.
Required Qualifications
·Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Environmental Science, or a related field (Associate degree also considered).
·Entry-level position (laboratory experience through education or internships is a plus).
·Basic laboratory skills, including pipetting, weighing, measuring volumes, and laboratory safety.
·Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
·Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
