DescriptionAs a member of the Solar Due Diligence team, the Senior Project Manager handles managing and executing independent engineering (IE) and technical advisory (TA) services to support the financing, sale, or acquisition of solar PV projects and portfolios across different countries, with focus on the French market.
The position is high profile and requires a mature and experienced candidate with effective communication, project management, and technical skills.
Responsibilities- Manage high profile Independent Engineering and Technical Advisory projects for project financing, sales and acquisitions of solar projects and portfolios, including technology reviews, civil and electrical design reviews, reviews of commercial and technical contracts, project schedule, project financial model, CAPEX and OPEX costs, environmental and permitting review, site visits and construction monitoring.
- Compile and complete IE and TA reports and summarize key results and conclusions. Ensure a quality of work that meets and exceeds client expectations. Integrate all review sections from UL Solutions’ multi-disciplinary team and ensure that UL Solutions’ technical and commercial analysis is consistent throughout sections.
- Prepare proposals detailing scope of work, team, budget and schedule for completion.
- Work with internal resources, associate project managers, and project managers. Ensure project deliverables stay on time, on target, and on budget.
- Mentor and train junior staff and assume responsibility for the internal growth of the team.
- Work with lenders and developers as the main client interface for UL Solutions. Attend client meetings with lenders and developers as needed. Engage clients and internal staff to develop creative solutions to meet client needs; provide exceptional customer service with a focus of growing client relationships.
- Prepare communication plan and related project status reports. Facilitate and lead regular status meetings with internal project team, sponsors, and stakeholders.
- Work with multi-disciplinary team to identify project risks, barriers, and issues and propose viable solutions and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure the use of best practices and apply lessons learned from earlier projects.
- Review of project contracts and financial models.
- Perform site visits during construction and operation and perform monthly construction monitoring site visits to review progress against technical specifications, budget and milestone schedule. Compile and review site visit reports and monthly construction monitoring reports.
- Represent UL Solutions at conferences and business development meetings.
- Support the business strategy and development for the solar due diligence team.
Qualifications- At least 8-10 years of experience as a project manager in renewable energy which may include solar and/or energy storage due diligence, project development, construction, equipment supply, operation or mergers and acquisitions.
- Demonstrable experience on BESS and a core working knowledge of concepts such as degradation, augmentation, round trip efficiency, etc. would be considered as a plus.
- At least bachelors-level education and core competence in a relevant field, e.g., mechanical, civil or electrical engineering, environmental engineering, construction management, operations and maintenance, commercial, legal, finance.
- Master in Renewable Energy related aspects is considered as beneficial.
- Good understanding of solar technology with experience in the review of main PV related equipment (PV modules, inverters, trackers and other main equipment in the BOS of a solar PV Project).
- Good understanding on typical KPIs for solar PV and high-level understanding of energy modelling for solar PV projects.
- Demonstrable experience handling utility scale solar PV Projects with experience on PV Project design, familiar with the review of typical contracts for solar PV projects including EPC, O&M, PPAs, Asset management Contracts and Credit Agreements.
- Experience defining and reviewing provisional acceptance and commissioning requirements for solar PV Projects.
- Good understanding of the French Solar PV market with a high degree of connection with key stakeholders in the French solar PV industry.
- Strong written and communication skills.
- Strong commercial skills and positioning within the French solar PV market
- Ability to work in a team environmental and successfully manage multiple complicated projects.
- French native speaker
- Fluent in English (verbal and writing). Spanish will be considered positive.
