Major Duties
This position is the Site Manager at Waco Mammoth National Monument (WACO), located in Waco, Texas. This position reports directly to the Superintendent of Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park (LYJO), located in Johnson City, Texas approximately 2.5 hours from the site. The incumbent is responsible for planning, managing, directing, and evaluating a complex and multifaceted program of interpretation, resource education, visitor services, community outreach, youth programming and partnerships. The employee is also responsible for coordinating resource management, facility management, administrative, and law enforcement services with the relevant program leads at LYJO. Determines strategic direction, goals, and objectives for Waco Mammoth National Monument. Responsible for all aspects of management of the park through subordinate staff including planning and programming, public relations, administration, resource management, safety, interpretation, visitor services, and facilities maintenance. Fosters and maintains external relationships and partnerships, such as with community organizations, Native American tribes, elected officials, stakeholders and partners. Builds coalitions internally and with other federal agencies, state and local governments, and non-profit and private sector organizations to achieve common goals. Ensures compliance with all federal laws and National Park Service (NPS) policies, ensuring that the park's financial and other resources are used strategically and effectively to meet NPS objectives.
